Osun State workers have suspended their five-week old strike over the implementation of the new minimum wage following amicable resolution of the crisis between the state government and labour.

The workers, after about six hours closed door meeting, yesterday, with government team led by the chief of staff to Governor Rauf Aregbesola, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, stated that they resolved to resume work immediately.

The spokesperson for the workers, who is also the chairman of the Joint Negotiation Council (JNC), commended the efforts of stake-holders in the state, including traditional rulers, religious leaders and opinion leaders, who intervened in the interest of the state.

While commending the magnanimity of Aregbesola for acceding to the demands of labour, the labour leaders charged workers in the state to redouble their efforts to ensure the success of the programmes of the administration.

He assured that the workers would ensure that Osun internally generated revenue (IGR) improves to assist the government to execute its  programmes.

Earlier, Oyetola said that the two parties had agreed on the implementation of a new salary scale table based on the minimum wage of N19,000 for levels 01-07.

Oyetola stressed that salaries of officers from levels 08-17 would be upwardly reviewed as soon as the financial position of the state government improves.
