PORT HARCOURT- The Nigeria Customs, Onne Port Command, Area 11, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Thursday, foiled attempt by a Briton to smuggle a pistol and four rounds of live ammunition into the country.

In a briefing, the Area Controller, Comptroller Dan Ugo, said, the items were discovered among the Briton’s personal luggage during   examination of  a 1x20ft container.

He said he had ordered the clearing agent, one Sebastine Okom to produce the importer within 24  hours, as the revolver and ammunition were among items on the prohibition list in the country.

He said: “Nobody have him licence to use this kind of hand gun in this country. We had arrested the agent, who will lead us to the importer.”

Okom, who was paraded before media men, said he is the Field Operation officer for Cressada International, a firm that does jobs for Shell. He said: “Shell gave us this job.  We import for Shell, the importer is a staff of Shell.”
