Atissa monarch still missing

Yenagoa-Almost two weeks after he was forcefully taken away from his palace at gunpoint, the whereabouts of the Ebeni Ibe of Atissa Kingdom, King Godwin Igodo, is still unknown.

The royal father, in his 70s, was kidnapped by gunmen penultimate, Thursday, at his residence in Obogoro, Yenagoa Local Government Area, Bayelsa State, shortly after he had retired to bed and taken away to an unknown destination.

The abduction of the monarch came as surprise to residents given the closeness of his palace to Creek Haven, the seat of power in the predominantly riverine state and recent reduction in kidnappings due to the activities of the state government special security outfit, Operation Famou Tangbe.

Obogoro, the home town of the monarch is just across the government jetty and also some distance away from the state Police Command.

The kidnappers last made contact with his family 72 hours after his abduction, demanding N25 million.
