Ogorode petitions NDDC over projects execution

Leaders of Ogorode village in Sapele Okpe community in Sapele Local Government Area, Delta State, have appealed to the management of Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, to intervene on the poor and substandard execu-tion of road and drainage contract at new Ogorode road, by Lexi junction.

In a petition to the Managing Director, NDDC and by elders of the community and Secretary to Landlords Association, copied Chairman, Sapele Okpe community, the Duke of Sapele, Okpe Kingdom, the Police DPO and NDDC Warri zonal office, among others, the group commended NDDC for awarding the reconstruction of the road network in the community. They, however, demanded that the project be executed in a proper manner that would benefit the people of the community.

According to the group, the road contract, which comprises width contrasting and drainage construction, had resulted in environmental risk to the community.

The petition read in part: “It is our strong appeal to the relevant authorities to prevail on the contractor, Engineer Rex and Obuse and its principal, NDDC, to execute the project for the benefit of the residents.”
