Warri Wolves Football Director and former Super Eagles forward, Edema Fuludu, has reiterated that the country’s lack of proper planning ahead of games has caused her the present predicament of qualifying for the Nations Cup.
Fuludu, a member of the victorious Tunisia ’94 nations Cup winning squad charged Siasia to win in Antananarivo first before any thoughts of Guinea, else, there will be no Nations Cup for Eagles next year.
“We always do not understand the need for starting well, we fail to recognize that you cannot win when you have not planned well. The calendar of every game is constantly in our hands but we continue to fail in utilising it.
“Why do we have to plan late when we know what is obtainable if we fail? Just flash your mind back to the Ethiopia game, we knew that they have high altitude still we traveled the night before the game and expected to win. This I know was caused by the victory of Argentina, making us to think that Ethiopia would be a walk-over.
“It is normal with our team that when the going gets tough, they get going. This I believe is the situation of things in respect of our qualification for the Nations Cup. I know we cannot afford not to qualify.
“The game is a must win for us, thereafter we can now talk about Guinea. If we must score six goals against them (Guinea) to qualify, we will get it, but first, we must walk past Madagascar. If we do not win in Antananarivo, then we must forget about the Nations Cup next year.
“The people saddled with the responsibility of making the atmosphere good for the team over there in Antananarivo should go ahead. The referees must be monitored because there are other interested parties involved. The game must be free and fair so we can see the qualities of both teams on the pitch,” Fuludu said.
