Groups, govs, leaders condemn act

Condemnations have followed Friday’s bombing of the United Nations Office in Abuja with Governor Jonah Jang of Plateau State expressing shock over the attack.

Similarly, the Igbo Democratic Forum (IDF) described it as a disgusting and gruesome act that should be condemned by well meaning people all over the world.

President of the forum, Chief Chidi Ndu, linked the bombing to the happenings in Libya and pointed accusing fingers at supporters of embattled former Libyan leader, Muammar Gaddafi.

He said targeting the UN Office could be their way of protesting the support giving by the UN to the Libyan rebels in their bid to oust Gadaffi.

The South East Revival Group (SERG) has faulted the Federal Government over its inability to provide security for Nigerians while it goes about chasing shadows and persecuting the wrong people.

Reacting to the bomb blast that wreaked havoc at the UN House in Abuja on Friday, the Co-ordinator General of SERG, Chief Willy Ezugwu said , “It is unfortunate that while groups unleash violence on regular basis, MASSOB members who are pursuing improved living conditions for the South East people through ideology are being hounded daily with the latest one being the incarceration of 281 members on trumped up charges of treason. SERG is made to believe that this is a case of targeted victimization of a section of the country. ” A statement by Chief Willy Ezugwu said in a statement.

For minister of State for Health, Dr. Mohammed Pate, “ The federal government and affected agencies are working hard to ensure that we save as many lives as we can. Investigation is going on and I believe the full details will be known later. FCT minister of state however described the act as an attack on the global community.
