Former Falcons coach Ismaila Mabo has said that the dominance of the Black Stars of Ghana over the Super Eagles in recent times is not a proof that they (Ghana) are better than the Eagles.
According to Mabo, “ The defeats we suffered in the hands of the Black Stars are temporary set backs but in all we are still setting the pace ahead of them and as far as I am concerned, they are not better than us. Even the Black Queens of Ghana are not better than the Falcons, same is applicable to the Under-23. Sometimes the game of football could appear differently than we think.
“I want to advise that Samson Siasia should ensure that he gets the professionals and other younger players that have played in major championships so that he will be able to assess them before the August 9 International Friendly in London.
“Ever since they came back from the last World Cup, so many critics have been saying that some of the players are old and can no longer play for the national team again but now I am urging the coach to look for those players that are capable and fit for the match, be they old players, especially players that have featured in major tournaments.
Instead of crucifying them without knowing the full position of their form, he should bring them against Ghana and then see if they will not make impact in the end,” Mabo stressed.
