Onitsha Chairman of the Anambra chapter of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Alhaji Dauda Ajagu, said on Friday in Onitsha (Anambra) that the collective prayers of Nigerians had reduced the rate of bombing in the country.
An explosion went off at the UN building in Abuja on Friday, however.
Ajagu said that Almighty Allah opens the gate of heaven to answer prayers from pure hearts during Ramadan, peoples’ religious affiliations notwithstanding.
The cleric condemned the act of bombing in the country while praying that Almighty Allah should have mercy on those who engaged in it and give them a repentant heart to follow the teachings of the Holy Qu’ran.
“Because what Boko Harams are doing is purely ungodly; un-Islamic.
“How can you be killing people at randomly without any good reason, with no sufficient reason?
“You know, it is what we Islam call Haram. Haram means abomination. I said it times without number.
“It is the united prayers, or the collective prayers of both the Christians, Moslems and pagans are praying in this nation that made them to pipe down.
“It is not because of Ramadan; because if it is because of Ramadan, most of them are Muslims and most of those them know the law, rules and regulation of Hadiths and Holy Quran.
“We are taught in Holy Quran that we will not offend each other, we will not fight; you know, we will be peaceful; that the nearest brother to a Muslim is a Christian.
“And in this aspect the Boko Haram people are even fighting the Muslims.’’
The cleric urged Muslims to continue to practice all they had learnt during the Ramadan while caring for the less-privileged as ordained by Allah. (NAN)
