Ekiti workers set for strike

Ado Ekiti- The leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress,NLC, and the Trade Union Congress,TUC, in Ekiti State have directed their members to stay off their duty posts tomorrow.

At a separate press briefing in Ado Ekiti, Tuesday, both the state chairmen of the NLC and TUC, Comrades Ayodeji Aluko and  Olaiya Kolawole said they had no option than to abide with the directive of their national headquarters.

They  declared that the state government had no option than to pay the sum of N18,000 minimum wage to the workers in their respective states.

According to them,Ekiti State governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi was part of the governors that met and   signed the agreement on minimum wage

”The NEC TUC was in Lagos where it was agreed that if the Federal Governmemt refuses to accede to the request of labour on minimum wage of N18,000 that we should proceed to go on strike today [Wednesday]

”The issue of minimum wage has been on for the past two years, the labour is prepared for the onslaught.
