Nigeria is set to join the long list of countries offering medical tourism. This fact is becoming a reality going by the level of preparation being put forward for the 2011 West African Healthcare Exhibition and Conference (WAH) being put together by Global Resources & Projects Nigeria Limited The sixth in series, according to the Managing Director/CEO, Dr. Wale Alabi, proves to be the best ever. The theme of WAH 2011 is “Public Private Partnership in Healthcare.”
WAH is an annual international exhibition focusing on medical equipment, scientific and laboratory instruments, hospital furniture, pharmaceutical products and services.
Every year, the health exhibition attracts over 4000 participants from both local and international manufacturers and traders interested in the African market.
Alabi said “The event will focus on developing countries and communities in need for health improvement, promote exchange of information on evidence based health management, promote international partnership through the endorsement and recommendation of the West African Health programmes, and stimulate interaction between health services and the commercial sector.”
He also announced that over 200 healthcare services providers, medical equipment manufacturers and suppliers across the world would be participating in the 2011 WAH.
He said announced that a dramatic increase of participating organisations and countries this year was because of increased popularity medical tourism and the attention healthcare is getting from government at various levels across the West African region.
Countries like Taiwan, India, China, Germany and Turkey have taken pavilions for participating organizations from their various countries.”
