Former Super Eagles right winger Finidi George has urged Nigerians to be a bit patient with Bayelsa-born tactician Samson Siasia in his bid to qualify the country for next year’s Nation’s Cup billed for Gabon/Equatorial even as he is confident Nigeria will qualify for the Nation’s Cup.
“Nigerians are always in a hurry to have a standard squad. I must say having a standard team is not a day’s job. It is supposed to be a gradual process and not a one day thing, all we need is time to build the team. During our days it took us time and years to have the team that Nigerians wanted then.
We should do the same with the present squad. Instead of changing and bringing coaches from outside the shores of the country, that he failed to win a match today does not mean he is not competent. Let’s give Siasia a chance so that he will be able to do the job very well. We really need to give him a chance and time, he needs support and encouragement to achieve his aim.
On Eagles slim chances to qualify for the Nation’s Cup, George said: “ We are in a tight corner, but then that’s notwithstanding, we will qualify. We have been having cases like this, it is not the first. I know we will qualify at the end. All they need now is to ensure they beat Madagascar and Guinea to be able to qualify,” he said.
