Kayode scored the first goal and made the second for the Flying Eagles, but soon after he was given the marching orders by the referee for a second yellow card. The player stated that the referee did not wish Nigeria well in that encounter in which Nigeria beat Cameroon 3-2.
“He made so many calls that didn’t favour us. The Cameroonians were much more physical, but at every slight touch he would blow against us. At a time I have to go to him and ask him why,” said the youngster.
He was however, thankful to God that victory came their way despite his sending off.
His teammate Stanley Okoro said that it was good that the Flying Eagles subdued Cameroon in the final.
“ Before we played the match they were taunting us with their many victory over us, but we thank God it has ended, we have stopped it and it is permanent.”
The former Under-17 player who disclosed that his colleagues were rattled and downcast when the Cameroonians leveled up during the final duel however informed that their coach early admonition saw them pushed through to the end.
“When it was 2-0 I just came in and in a few minutes they scored their two goals, I must tell you it was really crazy inside the field, but thank God we scored earlier and ended the game 3-2, it was miracle.
“When we lost to them in the preliminary our coach told us he is praying for us to meet Cameroon in the final and so we told ourselves that if we meet them we will do our best because we discovered that we did not put in our best in the first game.”
