OSOGBO-The Osun state election petition tribunal has received only one petition before it arising from the last general elections.
The Chairman of the tribunal, Justice Yargata B. Nimpar who disclosed this yesterday at the inauguration of the tribunal in Osogbo stated that there will be no room for frivolities for the six month period permitted by law.
While pledging that the tribunal shall act in conformity with the cardinal principles of fair hearing and trial, the tribunal Chairman added that the trial shall be opened to the public and there shall be no room for unnecessary adjournments.
Justice Nimpar also warned each party to the petition to act within the time allowed by law, stressing that counsel should, as ministers in the temple of justice, assist the tribunal at arriving at justice.
His words: “ The stream of justice should be allowed to flow unhindered. Election petitions are matters that time is of essence. This time around, the law provided for a time limit for the determination of petitions. No matter shall last beyond six months”.
