Lagos ports expect 85 ships

Eighty-five ships laden with various items are expected to sail into Lagos ports between May 17 and June 29. This was contained in the Shipping Position, a document of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), made available to newsmen in Lagos on Tuesday.

The NPA, however, said that the situation was subject to change daily. It said that the ships would berth at the following terminals; Five Stars, APM, Ports and Terminal Multiservices Ltd and Tin-Can Island Container Terminal.

According to the shipping position, seven out of the 85 ships are laden with petrol, eight ships are carrying new and second-hand vehicles while 32 ships are laden with containers. It said that 10 ships were laden with diesel, one laden with bitumen, five with bulk cement while 32 ships were carrying general cargoes, bulk wheat, fish, soda ash, rice and kerosene.
