ABUJA – President Goodluck Jonathan has congratulated the Flying Eagles of Nigeria on their victory in the finals of the 2011 African Youth Football Championships today in South Africa.

This is contained in a statement by Mr, Ima Niboro, Special Adviser to the President, Media & Publicity.

President Jonathan praised the artistry, doggedness and resilience shown by the Flying Eagles in their hard-fought 3-2 victory over Cameroun’s under-20 team.

The President said that the Flying Eagles had made the entire nation very proud with their exploits and ultimate triumph in South African which has earned Nigeria a record sixth African Youth Soccer Championship.

He assured the team and its handlers that the Federal Government will continue to give them all necessary support in their quest to win more laurels for the nation on the global stage.
