Lagos State High Court, Commercial Division, located at the Tafawa Balewa square, Lagos, was, yesterday, thrown into pandemonium when fire ravaged the electric control panel of the building.
The fire, which started at Justice Adefope-Okojie’s court on the second floor of the building was stopped when some staff noticed smoke coming from the roof of the courtroom.
However, shortly after the electric switch panel was put on, a fresh electric spark was noticed in another section of the building, where an electric distribution panel was already in flame at about 10. 36a.m., creating pandemonium in the entire building.
Lawyers and judges, who were inside the court, ran in different directions to escape the fire.
It took the intervention of security men and some staff, who got fire extinguishers from the neighbouring assembly complex, to put the fire under control.
