LAGOS – Ahead of the May 29, inauguration ceremony for the commencement of another tenure, Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State will preside over a valedictory session today for his outgoing cabinet members at the Executive Chamber of the State House, Alausa, instead of the usual executive council meeting.

Governor Fashola was re-elected for another four-year term at the April 26, gubernatorial election in the state and subsequently presented with the Certificate of Return by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC. The ceremony today, will mark the end of Fashola’s first term.

The valedictory session will afford the outgoing executive members the opportunity to express their gratitude for the opportunity given to serve the people of the state and an assessment of the administration performance.

Fashola had earlier directed all the 35 commissioners and special advisers to prepare and tender their hand-over notes with full details of scope of work covered since assumption of office till date, on or before  May 19.

Last Friday, the inter- ministerial media briefings, where each ministry gave the score card of their activities within the last four years, came to an end with the Ministry of Information and Strategy wrapping it up.

The fate of those would be considered for the second term have continued to hang in the balance with some of the interested commissioners taken to prayers as the slot is not automatic.

According to sources, “the new list of cabinet members is ready but is still being kept closed to the governor’s chest and the leadership of Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN.”

Meanwhile, Commissioner for Transportation, Prof. Bamidele Badejo, had said,  “it has been a very good journey. And I want to thank Governor Fashola for giving me the opportunity to be  part of his team.”
