CBN Junior tennis ends today

The final matches of the 2011 Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)Junior tennis Championship are expected to hold today at the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club in Onikan.

After four days of serve and volleys by youngsters from different parts of the country, the curtain finally falls n a competition that has continued to enjoy the financial support of the country’s apex bank, who has promised to continue footing the bill of the competition to unearth the next generation of players for the nation’s use.

The highlight of today’s finale is the boys 18 finals while their will also be finals matches in the girls 18, girls 16 and boys 16. Winners of the respective final matches would be presented with gifts comprising tennis equipment, certificates and plaques for their efforts. As in all junior events, no cash reward would be given as the programme is a developmental effort.

Tournament Director, Godwin Kiekna, said everything was in place to ensure a successful completion of the competition.

He urged sports fans to turn out in the hundreds to cheer the future stars of tomorrow to victories in today’s finals matches.
