FORMER National Deputy Chairman, South-West of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Bode George, has given 11 reasons why the people of South-West will vote for President Goodluck Jonathan, in Saturday’s Presidential election.
Bode George in a statement said: “President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan emerged at a period of storm and political tumult when the fundamental underpinnings of the Nigerian democracy were challenged by multiple assaults. He has since stilled the ferment of ruinous ethnic divisions and political dislocations.
He has demonstrated a healthy unifying leadership without recourse to partisan prejudice, without the temptings of ethnic partiality.” “He has steered the rudder of state with firm statesmanship control and poise but with humility, with vision, and with a purpose. He has led the nation with accommodating largeness, embracing every view and position, believing that the best ideas often develop from a potpourri of societal articulations.
Jonathan has led the nation in the last nine months not as a native of Otuoke, not as a Bayelsan, not as a Southerner, but as the great unifying spirit and symbol of a new united Nigeria.
The election of Jonathan will strengthen the Nigerian promise and ideal;” that any Nigerian, regardless of ethnic provenance or sectarian beliefs, can aspire to the highest position in the land based on merit and competitive fairness.”
