Gombe – Gov. Mohammad Goje of Gombe State,Saturday, announced the appointment of caretaker committee members to oversee the affairs of the 11 council areas in the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, reports that the appointment was sequel to the expiration of the tenure of the elected local government chairmen on Saturday.
The new appointees are to run the affairs of the councils pending the election of new chairmen by the State Independent Electoral Commission.
A statement issued, Saturday, in Gombe by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Abubakar Bage, said the governor exercised the powers conferred on him by the State Local Government Council (Amendment) Law of 2011 in dissolving the councils.
NAN reports that six of the 11 affected council chairmen retained their seats.
They are Mr Robinson Wasa for Billiri, Malam Usman Ribadu for Funakaye, Mr Shehu Kanar for Kaltungo, Alhaji Umar Suleiman for Nafada, Mr Samuel Bulus for Shongom and Alhaji Mohammed Kwadon for Yamaltu-Deba.
The new appointees are Malam Baba Fulani for Akko, Alhaji Abubakar Chiroma for Balanga, Mr Damina Sardauna for Dukku, Alhaji Saidu Sambo for Gombe and Malam Ya’u Marafa for Kwami.
