GUBERNATORIAL candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Kwara State, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, has explained the defection of Senator Olusola Saraki from the Peoples Democratic Party as a natural flow of a father’s love who cannot disown his daughter.
Speaking in an interview with newsmen in Illorin, Ahmed equally deplored the political violence that erupted during the Jonathan/Sambo campaign rally in Ilorin last week, describing it as the handiwork of opposition figures who were afraid of losing in the forthcoming election.
Ahmed is pitched in battle against Senator Gbemisola Saraiki, daugther of Senator Olusola Saraki, who is flying the flag of the Allied Centre Party of Nigeria, ACPN.
Affirming that the PDP was solidly on ground having ruled the state for seven and half years effectively, he said the people of the State were determined to ensure that the legacy left by the Dr. Bukola Saraki administration were put in safe custody.
Playing down the defection of the elder Saraki from the PDP, Ahmed said that Senator Saraki’s interest in his daughters’s ambition was normal and would not affect the fortunes of PDP in the general elections.
“PDP is ready to go, we are fully set for the general election. All slots have been filled. Saraki is the father of Kwara politics and he is the father of the governor. He has always prayed for the governor and wants his legacy to continue. That is where we are. That is where PDP is standing. As a father we do not expect him to disown his daughter,” he added.
