Market Capitalisation drops by N52bn

Activities on the Nigerian Stock Exchange resumed Monday on a bearish note as the value of listed equities represented by the market capitalisation depreciated by N52.53 billion.

In particular, the capitalisation declined by 0.63 per cent to close at N8.315 trillion from N8.368 trillion at which it opened.  The All share index dropped by 0.63 per cent or 164.34 bases points to close at 26,016.84 points from 26,181.18 points.

Lafarge Cement WAPCO Plc recorded the most share price loss on the losers table dropping by N1.50 to close at N0.50 per share, Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc followed with a loss of N0.76 to close at N14.54 per share and Zenith Bank Plc dipped by N0.48 to close at N15.22 per share.

On the contrary, Custodian and Allied Insurance Plc led on the gainers table with N1.66 to close at N37.39 per share, International Breweries Plc followed with a gain of N0.31 to close at N6.61 per share and Nigeria breweries Plc garnered N0.30 to close at N76.30 per share.

However a turnover of 444.74 million shares valued at N2.40 billion was recorded in 6,327 deals.
