This is despite the fact that the Athletics Federation of Nigeria is yet to resolve the ticket refund issue, which kept the athlete from the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi, India. Selim is being owed money by the AFN following his participation at the 2010 African Championships in Nairobi, Kenya.

“I have been speaking to the AFN secretary-general about that. But I have not been refunded. This would not discourage me from coming for the trials in June,” said the Arizona University Art and Design graduate.

He indicated that he was looking forward to running at the All Africa Games and his target was to retain the gold he won at the 2007 Games in Algeria.

Selim who is Nigeria’s leading hurdler with a 2010 season’s best of 13.55 seconds won a silver at the Nairobi 2010 African Championships with a time of 13.83 seconds. He went on to the IAAF World Cup in Athletics in Split, Croatia to run 13.76 and was placed fifth. He could have struggled for at least the bronze at the New Delhi Games, which was swept by England trio Andy Turner 13.38, Sherman William 13.50 and Clarke Lawrence 13.70.
