Governor Godswill Akpabio, has said that the overwhelming support his state gave to President Goodluck Jonathan at the just concluded Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential primaries was indicative of the level of integrity and honesty in the emerging Akwa Ibom State.
All the 141 delegates to the special convention voted for Jonathan.
He said his state was out to teach other Nigerians what it means to be honest, dedicated and sincere, adding that Akwa Ibom spoke with one voice to put an end to what he described as “tortoise politics.
“The totality of Akwa Ibom spoke with one voice. This is a new Akwa Ibom State. We are trying to abolish tortoise politics where somebody will say ‘Iwill support you’ in the day time and at night, he goes to other meetings,” he said.
Akpabio’s comments came against the backdrop of insinuations in the recent past that his support for Jonathan would be ill-fated and that his state was not sincere to the Jonathan’s presidency.
Following the 100 percent support the party gave President Jonathan, Governor said, “we will now be know as a state that prays to God and a state that is honest.”
