THE rising state of insecurity in Bayelsa State has caused the Action Congress Party of Nigeria, ACN, to release the result of the party’s governorship primaries conducted in Bayelsa State, in Rivers State.

While declaring  Chief  Ayakeme Whiskey winner of the election, chairman of the Bayelsa State   chapter of the  party’s Electoral Committee,  Mr Salisu Shaibu, who spoke in Port Harcourt, weekend,   said the winner polled 4,800 votes to beat  three others.

In his acceptance speech Chief Whisky, who was a former Commissioner for Housing in Timipre Sylva’s administration, lamented the insecurity in Bayelsa State. He recalled the recent attacks on politicians, which led to loss of lives and bomb blasts at some political rallies in the area.

He assured that he will take steps to tackle security challenges in the area and also address challenges of poverty among the people.

His words, “Bayelsa has lost its sense of pride in the comity of states because the ship of state is not only seriously adrift, but almost lost from the radar.”
