Falcon’s coach, Eucharia Uche has stated that she is not distracted by calls for her replacement, but rather she is focused on leading the women team to a reasonable outing at the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Germany.
After a 8-0 spanking during a recent friendly match between Nigeria and Germany in Germany, concerned football fans expressed fears about the capability of the Falcons’ coach. But Uche the first women to win the African Women Championship as a player and coach declared yesterday that she has what it takes to be in the saddle.
“This is Nigeria and people are entitled to their opinions. I cannot force everyone to like me or what I’m doing. I think the best thing for me now is to stay focused on our lined up programmes towards a successful outing in Germany”,Uche said yesterday during a phone interview.
Speaking further, she said the Nigeria Football Federation has contacted some countries that are not in the Falcons’ group to know if they can play friendly matches with the Falcons.”We are waiting for the responses of those that we have contacted so that we can know where to start from”, she added. She concluded by stating that the Falcons will begin real camping for the competition by February, 2011.
