A staff of the Delta State Sports Commission has been killed by unknown gunmen at Irri in Delta State.
State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Charles Muka who confirmed the story told Vanguard in Asaba yesterday that “on 25th December at about 1440 hours, one Brown Omoto of Okpara quarters Irri town reported that a cousin of his by name Solomon Ogbogbo of Okogho quarters Irri, Coach with Delta State Sports Council Asaba aged 47 years was shot dead at Irri town by unknown persons”.
He further stated that the “scene of crime was visited and corpse removed and deposited at Central Hospital mortuary awaiting autopsy while one Okaro of Ogbogu street Aviara was also hit by a stray bullet and he is hospitalized ; no arrest made yet”, he added.
The PPRO also told our reporter that the twenty five suspects recently arrested during a joint raid by men of the state police command and State Security Service (SSS) are still being interrogated.
Delta state police command in collaboration with SSS had arrested the 25 suspects over armed robberies, kidnapping cultism, killing of two youths in Asaba on 21st night and were picked up at Asaba, Okpanam and Ibusa
