CHAIRMAN of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Delta State, Chief Peter Nwaoboshi, has said the party was prepared for the planned re-run election in the state and the 2011 general elections.
Chief Nwaoboshi, spoke, yesterday, while addressing the new-traditional ruler of Illah, Obi Nwabuenu Mebu and the Ogbelani-in-council during a condolence visit on the demise of the former Ogbelani, Obi Gabriel Okondo.
The chairman told the Illah king that the PDP would reaffirm its supremacy over other political parties in the re-run election, by ensuring that it swept the poll and solicited the support of the people for the PDP.
He explained that the entire people of Delta North were irrevocably committed to producing the Governor of Delta State in 2015, adding that the electoral victory of Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan in the re-run election would translate to the actualisation of political vision of Delta North.
Chief Nwaoboshi charged PDP supporters in the state to remain undaunted in bracing up with the tasks ahead, saying that they should not succumb to the antics of politicians who did not share in the development aspiration and political vision of the people of Delta North.
In his remarks, the traditional of Illah, Obi Nwabuenu Mebu thanked Chief Nwaoboshi for the visit and wished PDP well in the re_run and other elections in future.
Earlier, while addressing PDP supporters, Chief Nwoboshi urged them to immediately embark on house to house mobilization, saying that they should persuade the people on the need to vote for the party to guarantee the political future of Delta North.
A leader of the PDP in the area and former Special Assistant on political matters, Mr Sylvester Eseagwu, explained that Illah remained a stronghold of the PDP adding that adequate mobilization was going on in preparation for the re_run elections.
Mr. Eseagwu also expressed optimism that PDP will deliver its candidate in the re_run election and urged all those nursing any misgiving under whatever guise to sink their differences and work for the collective interest of the PDP.
