Imo State chapter of All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, has suspended Chief Rochas Okorocha from the party over what it described as anti-party activities.
It also barred Okorocha, who is a gubernatorial aspirant on its platform, from all party designated areas and activities in the state until further notice.
In a letter jointly signed by the state Chairman and Secretary, Merss C.C. Nwaka and Mike Nwachukwu respectively, the party said the state working committee hinged its decision on the party’s constitution regarding disciplinary actions against erring members.
The statement readsin part: “The State Working Committee of the party, at an emergency meeting, deliberated on the ugly incident which took place at the state party office at No. 107b Wetheral Rd, Owerri, yesterday, Monday, December 20, 2010.
“In view of the seriousness of your conduct and relying on Article 19.3 of the constitution of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, the State Working Committee resolved to suspend you from the party and you are hereby suspended from the party with immediate effect, pending a full investigation of your conduct by the party.”
Besides, the party stated that “as a consequence of your suspension from the party, you are, with immediate effect, barred from all party designated areas and from all the activities of the party until further notice. This letter of suspension is being forwarded to the national office of the party for their information and further necessary action. It is also being copied to the state commissioner of police for his information and necessary action.”
