Former Team Manager of the defunct Concord Football club of Abeokuta, Kingsley Jalla says appointing former Super Eagles captain, Sunday Oliseh, as the assistant secretary general on technical matters of the Nigeria Football Association, NFA, might plunge the Association into a big mess if care is not taken.
Jalla told Saturday Vanguard sports in an exclusive interview that such position should have be given to someone who is more mature and experienced on the technical aspect of football, asking if Samson Siasia would succumb to Oliseh’s instructions?
“The technical director job is a big task, giving it to Sunday Oliseh is going to plunge the house into big problem. I don’t think they really looked into it. Siasia has a big ego, Oliseh the same thing. In such a department, you need someone that has the experience, the maturity and got the capability to manage both the national team coach and the technical department.
“Would they say that Siasia will succumb to some of Oliseh’s orders in the technical department? There is going to be a big problem, the NFA is working itself into a very tight corner. You are bringing two lions into a small cage and you are putting a goat in between them.
NFA should sit down and look at what they are doing, they should begin to examine these things critically, two young men with big ambition, who is going to succumb to the other? It’s going to be a very big problem.
“The NFA needs a more mature person as a technical director like Ben Dualong to come to the technical department. When they speak, there is respect of a father and son relationship,” he said.
“The NFA system has not allowed the technical department to work. We want a technical department that will groom players for the national team. We don’t want any recycling any more. We have someone like Christian Chukwu and the NFA is appointing Chris Green, a lawyer, as the chairman of the technical committee. What has he played or which team has he handled to deserve that position?
“We should stop recycling people. If you try and fail, we should try another person. Chukwu is there, Ben Dualong is there. These are people that have got the experience to contribute what they have into the technical department.
You don’t give what you don’t have and that has been our problem. They bring someone from nowhere, put him ahead of the people that have the knowledge of the game.
The technical department is dead and if we want to revive it, we must bring people who have integrity and have passion of the game and ready to give the country what she really wants,” said the former Bayelsa United PRO.
