Prof. Attahiru Jega-led Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has unfolded a programme to harness ideas from the 36 states’ electoral commissions, SIECs, in the country, to ensure credible polls next year.
Against this backdrop, the electoral umpire has set up a six-man committee, with members drawn from the SIECs and INEC.
Speaking on the issue in a chat with Vanguard, Mr. Musbau Oyefeso, Commissioner for Operations and Logistics, Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission, LASIEC, said the panel had already met and came out with strategies to ensure effective collaboration among the electoral bodies.
He said: “The INEC has set up a body consisting of members of Forum of State Independent Electoral Commissions, FOSICOM, and INEC’s representatives with about three members from each body.
“They are to midwife how the two bodies will collaborate, co-ordinate and work together to ensure we have best electoral practices in the next general elections.”
