The coordinators of Godswill Akpabio 2011 Campaign Organization in the 31 local government areas of Akwa Ibom State have risen from a meeting with a pledge to deliver their areas in the 2011 gubernatorial elections to Governor Godswill Obot Akpabio.
As a first step of the process, they have vowed to massively mobilize residents of their areas of voting age to participate in the voter registration exercise to be done by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The meeting, presided over by the Secretary of the Campaign Organization, Emmanuel Enoidem, at the weekend, also discussed on the modalities to set up the campaign organization at the ward level for effective mobilization of people at the grassroots.
In a statement, the Director of Media and Publicity, Mr. Anietie Ekong, said the campaign organization was making efforts to mobilize support for Akpabio and President Goodluck Jonathan.
According to Enoidem, “the meeting was part of the Godswill 2011 project to mobilize support for Chief Godswill Obot Akpabio. Through his peoples-oriented projects, Governor Akpabio has touched every community in Akwa Ibom State either through the rural electrification project, road construction project, free healthcare project or the free and compulsory education project.”
The Commissioner for Information and Social Re-orientation, Mr Aniekan Umanah, who briefed Journalists at the end of the meeting, said the Godswill 2011 Campaign Organization has engaged in a door-to-door mobilization of support for Akpabio and would run an issue-based campaign based on the achievements of the governor.
