Why opposition against Elechi will fail, by Agbo

By Dennis Agbo

ABAKALIKI—THE gang-up against the re-election bid of Governor Martin Elechi of Ebonyi State will fail as the motives of the opposition members are twisted, lack ideological perspective and propelled by selfish interests against the common interest of the state, Senator Anthony Agbo has said.

Agbo, who also is seeking a return ticket to continue representation of Ebonyi North senatorial district in an interview with Vanguard, weekend, said those who currently have found themselves opposed to the government of Chief Elechi were those who felt that their personal economic interests were not being served by the incumbent administration in the state.

Agbo, who is Vice Chairman, Senate Committee on FCT, however, advised the opposition members doing so, based on personal economic reasons, to discard the selfishness for solid the foundation Elechi was laying for the future of Ebonyi State.

He advised those who have found themselves in opposition to be clear in thinking, appreciate creative leadership instead of embarking on what he said was blind and aggressive opposition with the sole aim of just substituting positions.

“I don’t think that people will be blind to substitute such opposition with the kind of government we have today and my prediction is that God willing, the gathering opposition is going to fail and Elechi will be re-elected for a second tenure.

“I don’t see any person in the opposition camp that can make a better governor than Martin Elechi at present. Which of them is more patriotic?”
