AKURE—The Primate of Anglican Church of Nigeria, Most Rev. Nicholas Okoh, weekend admonished the nation’s leaders to make the welfare of the masses their focal point by embarking on projects that would impact positively on their lives.

Okoh, however commended the Ondo State Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, for his landmark achievements in the provision of amenities for the people of the State.

He noted that the nation would have a greater future if leaders saw themselves as servant-leaders and not bosses to the people in all their dealings.

The Bishop during a courtesy call on Governor Mimiko in his office, was emphatic  that the only way forward for the nation was for those in position of authorities to prioritize the welfare of the poor through the execution of people-oriented programmes which he described as a concrete way of wiping out their tears.

While praying for the success of Governor Mimiko’s administration, the Anglican Primate  opined that the Governor must not be allowed to fail being a Christian who he described as leader with genuine interest of the masses at heart.

Rev. Okoh equally clarified the issue of criticism of government activities by religious leaders, sating such criticism was meant to achieve a positive change in both the interest of government and the people.

Responding, Dr Mimiko thanked the cleric for his visit and assured the people of the State  and Nigerians of his administration’s continued determination to embark on projects that would continue to benefit the majority of the people.

“I can assure you sir that our administration will continue to embark on programmes that have direct impact on our people. And I want to say that the interest of the majority of our people will always be the focus of our administration’.
