3 suspected kidnappers arrested in Delta

UGHELLI—NINE months after the wife of the Vice Chairman of Ughelli South Local Government Area, Delta State, Mrs Elizabeth Otidi, escaped from her kidnappers’ den, the Ughelli Police, yesterday, arrested three persons in connection with her abduction.

Mrs Otidi, was kidnapped on January 28, 2010 in her husband’s home town, Umolo-Olomu, in the council  on her way from a village market.

The suspects, Vanguard gathered, were tracked down by the police at a check point mounted by men of the Ughelli ‘A’ Division in Oteri town, near Ughelli.

The suspected kidnappers, Vanguard gathered were arrested on a motorcycle  on their way from Kiagbodo. It was further gathered that Mrs Otidi,  who was alerted immediately by the Police, identified one of the suspects (names withheld) to be among those who took her hostage nine months ago.

Confirming the arrest, the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, in charge of the division, Mr Chris Sorgbara, restated the resolve of the Ughelli Police to get rid of criminals in the area.

Sorgbara said the police in the area, was working round the clock towards achieving a zero a crime free society, as they have tolerance to criminal activities in the Ughelli metropolis.

He added that the suspects were aiding the police in their investigation.

Speaking with newsmen, Mr Vincent Otidi, thanked the Ughelli Police for the brilliant work and expressed hope that the culprits would be made to face the law after investigation had been completed in the matter.
