The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) market capitalisation last week, marginally rose by 0.06 per cent from N5.936 trillion penultimate week to close at N5.940 trillion.
Specifically, the capitalisation up by N3.63 billion. Another key performance index ,the All share index shed 0.13 per cent or 32.67 bases points to close at 24,241.84 points from 24,274.51 points.
Guinness Nigeria PIc led 50 other stocks on the losers’ table dropping by N3.90 to close at N163.10 per share, MRS Oil Nigeria PIc followed with a loss ofN3.90 to close at N81.70 per share and PZ Cussons Nigeria PIc dipped by N2.50 to close at N32.50 per share.
Other share price losers include: Nigerian Bottling Company PIc N2.27, 7-Up Bottling Company PIc N2.1 0, Okomu Oil Palm PIc N1.50, National Salt Company of Nigeria PIc N1.20, UAC of Nigeria PIc N1.14, Cadbury Nigeria PIc NO.97, Access Bank PIc NO.51, among others.
On the other hand, African Petroleum PIc led 42 other stocks on the gainers’ table with a gain of N4.24 to close at N31.26 per share, Nestle Nigeria PIc followed with a gain ofN4.00 to close at N375.00 per share and Chemical & Allied Products PIc garnered N3.26 to close at N35.18 per share.
Other share price gainers’ include: Benue Cement Company PIc N2.50, Ashaka Cement PIc N2.05,
Northern Nigeria Flour Mills PIc N2.02, UACN Property Development Company PIc NO.85, United Bank for Africa PIc NO.60, Presco PIc NO.33, Intercontinental Bank PIc – NO.32, among others.
Despite the swing, equity trading appreciated by 20 per cent as a turnover of 1.44 billion shares valued at N11.95 billion was recorded in 32,967 deals in the week under review, in contrast to last week’s turnover of 1.2 billion shares valued at N1 0.4 billion in 32,155 deals.
The Banking sub-sector was the most active on the sectorial analysis accounting for 50.14 per cent of the market turnover with 722.03 million shares valued at N6.42 billion in 17,411 deals. Guaranty Trust bank PIc was the most sought after in the sub-sector trading 143.30 million shares valued at N2.21 billion in 2,768 deals, First Bank of Nigeria PIc followed with the exchange of 103.73 million shares valued at N1.32 billion in 4,401 deals and Access Bank PIc recorded 76.93 million shares valued N629.85 million in 1,252 deals.
