Shekarau’s aide is NIPR’s new boss

KANO — Governor Shekarau’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Public Relations, Malam Sule Yau Sule, weekend, emerged the new Chairman of the state chapter of Nigeria Institute of Public Relations.

Sule emerged unopposed alongside six others at the end of the chapter’s Annual General Meeting in Kano which was attended by its former National President, Alhaji Sabo Sarki.

The election became necessary at the expiration of the tenure of the last administration led by Abubakar Gotomo. Those elected were the only people that picked nomination forms.

Sule’s election coincided with a donation of N300,000, hajj seat, two lap-tops 18-seater bus by Shekarau’s administration for the take-off of the new executive.

In his acceptance speech, Sule described the task ahead of him ‘Herculean’, pledging to do his best to elevate the chapter to an enviable height in the polity.

According to Yau Sule, “the task on me is highly demanding in view of the role  I play now as the Deputy Director in Shekarau’s Presidential campaign team and also as SA to governor Shekarau on Media.”

However, the former state chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ)Prince Ajayi Memaiyetan, who is also a member of the NIPR cautioned  Public Relations Officers (PRO) who were not registered members of the association to do so in the interest of the organisation.
