There was wild jubilation in Geneva, Nyon and indeed many cities of Switzerland when  the country defeated European champions Spain by a lone goal yesterday.

Caucausians hailed any person of African decent including delegates  to the International Labour Conference who were returning from the conference centre.

This was apparently because the goal was scored by Gelson Fernandes, a player of African descent, usually called DARKY in Switzerland.
Youths trooped out on the streets, dancing and forming circles round their flags of Red background with a big white cross.

At the Cornavin station in Geneva,  more people were seen at pubs despite the  slight rain showers.

Those at internet cafes were also discussing the Swiss Victory over Greece.
Many Swiss citizens did not believe that their country could beat Spain .

In Geneva, a viewing centre was created in the city centre for fans to watch the match.
A  Nigerian resident in Nyon said the city was agog as people trooped to the streets to celebrate the victory of Switzerland over Greece.
