NDDC donates mosquito treated nets to orphanages

BENIN—THE Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC,  has provided mosquito treated nets to three orphanage homes in Edo State. It has meanwhile  urged Nigerians to assist the less privileged in the society so as to fight poverty in the country.

The Edo State representative on the Board of the NDDC, Mr Donald Omorodion, who gave out the mosquito treated nets on behalf of the Commission in Benin City, regretted the poverty level in the society, saying  “the only way we can grow as a nation is to render help to the less privileged.”

Mr Omorodion, who used the opportunity to celebrate his birthday anniversary, visited the Edo Orphanage Home, Lady Abeni Orphanage Home and the Oronsanye Orphanage Home, all in Benin City.

Noting the resolve of the NDDC to uplift the lives of the people of the Niger Delta, he said, “in line with the mission establishing the Commission, we will ensure that the people of the oil producing communities in our state get what is due to them. But it is worrisome to note that people at the orphanage homes are being neglected irrespective of the fact that we have lots of rich people in our society.

“That is why I decided to celebrate my birthday with the less privileged and I have been doing this for a very long time. I am glad that God has used me today to provide mosquito treated nets to these homes.”

The NDDC will do more in the nearest future to uplift the lives of these people. I want to appeal to Nigerians to render assistance to these people because I believe that together we can fight poverty in our society,” he said.
