Former Nigeria striker Victor Ikpeba hopes the Super Eagles will overcome their 1-0 defeat to Argentina when they play Greece on Thursday.
Ikpeba says the World Cup can drag Nigeria out of the international wilderness as the team looks to rediscover their glory days of the late 1990s.
The 1996 Olympic gold medallist believes it could be different this time. He thinks the team has a second round chance despite that narrow defeat and due to Argentina’s inconsistency.
“We need to forget that loss and do the best and get back to where we used to be, and by doing that we have to perform extremely well at the World Cup,†Ikpeba said
“We are carrying something on our shoulders – to represent the country in the very best way. A successful World Cup they have weaknesses as well. South Korea, we know most of their players as well, but we have to think of ourselves and how we will go through.â€
