FG committed to credible elections in 2011


Benin City- The Chief of Staff to  the President,   Chief Mike Oghiadomhe, spoke yesterday of his boss determination to put in place a credible electoral system before the 2011 general elections.

Oghiadomhe who addressed supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State during a reception for him on his appointment and Dr. Chris Ogiemwonyi as Minister of State for Works, however lamented the protracted factional crisis in the state PDP and stressed the need for the leaders to close ranks with a view to brightening the chances of the party in future elections.

The state chairman of the party, Chief Dan Orbih said the PDP was being repositioned to take over power in the state in 2012 governorship election and asked party faithful to remain focused and loyal to the party.

Oghiadomhe who called for continued prayers for the Federal Government, said “Mr President and the Federal Government are determined to put Nigeria on that map of integrity, that map of respect, that map of electoral confidence in the eyes of our people and the international community. Government is committed to the provision of necessary infrastructure and all necessary reforms to ensure that the average Nigerian lives a decent life”.

Commenting on the crisis in the state PDP, he stated that from the crowd he observed at the occasion, it showed that PDP is alive in Edo State. “But what is required now is to continue to show love and compassion, is to continue to accommodate each other. I do not want to belong to a faction of PDP. In Edo state, we use to be one family. When I won election with Chief Lucky Igbinedion, no body went to court because we were all together”.
