Union protests insecurity in Ogwu

OWERRI—The President General of Umunneato, Ishi Ogwa Development Union, Prince Vincon Uwakwe-Uwandu, has cried out over what he described as “the great danger to the relative peace that is now prevalent in Ogwa.”

Prince Uwandu, in a press statement issued yesterday also said that the situation might deteriorate unless it is checked now.

While blaming the looming crisis on those he called Ogwa stakeholders’ Forum, Uwandu also accused the group of planning to usurp the functions of presidents general of the various autonomous communities in Ogwa.

“The insidious activities of the group is aimed at subverting, overthrow and usurp the functions of the presidents general of the various autonomous communities in Ogwa,” Uwandu said.

He insisted that no association or group will function above the Ogwa Council of Presidents General to avoid conflict, adding that the Imo State Law on Autonomous Communities is very clear on this matter.
