The United States embassy in Nigeria said Wednesday that it had raised its security alert status because of
â€œcontinuing worldwide terrorist threats against U.S. citizensâ€.
An email sent to Americans living in Nigeria did not give details of the threats.
â€œDue to continuing worldwide terrorist threats against U.S. citizens, U.S. government facilities, and U.S.
interests, the U.S. Mission in Nigeria, which includes the U.S. Embassy in Abuja and the U.S. Consulate General
in Lagos, has increased its alert status,â€ the notice said.
