Ohakim decries Warri explosions

Imo State Governor, Chief Ikedi Ohakim, has decried the bomb blasts which aborted the Niger Delta States Post Amnesty Dialogue organized in Warri, Delta State, by the Vanguard Newspapers as “a most unfortunate incident”.

He also said that the blast sadly cut short the very intention of dialoguing over the apparent delay in the implementation of the post amnesty programme of the Federal Government.

Ohakim made his feelings known at the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport (SMICA), Owerri, while fielding questions from journalists on arrival from Abuja, where he went on an official duty.

The governor said that the meeting of the Niger Delta governors and leaders of thought would have provided the opportunity to critically fine tune every area for the implementation of the amnesty programme, as well as fashion the way forward.

He said that the dialogue had tried to draw the attention of those implementing the programme to work according to the expectation of the people of the Niger Delta Region.

Ohakim, who maintained that the Niger Delta governors had gone for the meeting to equally address the environmental degradation in the Region, commended the federal government for promptly rising to the challenge posed by the blast.
