…appoints Lar, Kwande co-chairman

ABUJAâ€”THE Federal Government yesterday announced the constitution of a high power 15-man committee with membership drawn from the two major religious groups in Plateau State to fashion out ways of achieving lasting peace on the troubled plateau.
This was one of the decisions reached at a meeting on the Jos crisis convened by Vice President Goodluck Jonathan in Abuja, yesterday.
According to a statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the Vice President on Media and Publicity, Mr Ima Niboro, the Special committee has former Plateau State governor, Chief Solomon Lar, as Chairman while Amb. Yahya Kwande will serve as co-chairman.
The statement further added that the committee is to, among other terms of reference; critically examine the issues surrounding the recurrent violence in Plateau State and work out how various institutions and levels of government can interact to ensure that the crisis is resolved once and for all.
