Abeokuta-based  Premier League side Gateway FC are indeed finding the elite league very tough. From the blast of the whistle, it was obvious the team would require more than they have in their arsenal to make an impression in the Globacom Premier League.
Seventeen games down the line and the team is at the rear of a 20-team competition, with only 19 points to show for its effort so far. But Chief coach of the team, Loveday Omoruyi says, relegation is not an option for the team that gained promotion only last season.
Omoruyi, who led the team to a 1-2 loss to Sunshine Stars two weeks ago, said there is no way Gateway will be relegated this season.
“No, it’s too early to even think about relegation. There is no way my team will be demoted. I am confident that we will swim out of the troubled waters soon and will put an end to this talk about relegationâ€, Omoruyi said.
Gateway continue its survival quest today as it hosts Ocean Boys in Abeokuta. Omoruyi is confident they will pick up the maximum points but Gateway has been far from being impressive at home this season.
