Sometimes around 2006 and 2007,1 was browsing the Internet when I came across a document suggesting that the think-tank in Europe were planning on how they can build and supply small nuclear reactors for the generation of electricity to  developing countries. They will also be supplying the nuclear fuel (some kind of processed Uranium used  (bed the nuclear reactors) to those developing countries.

Instantly I shouted and promised myself it will never work. 1 even invited my flat mate – a fellow Nigerian to share the discussion with me. My reaction was because I know it was not in our interest as developing countries to acquire those reactors.

I know it was all in the interest of the developed economies to build and supply those reactors to us. I will explain.
Nuclear technology is one of the most advanced technologies with less than 10 countries in the world having the capability to develop and control such.  I  can also beat my chest and claim that we have fewer than 10 companies in the world that can build the nuclear reactor; or even process the uranium to make it ready for use in the reactor (for feeding into the reactors as fuel).

Recently in Britain, they needed to award a contract for the construction of a new nuclear electricity generating station, but found it difficult getting a local company with the capability to build the station. The contract was awarded to a French company which happened to be the only one in France.

They tried to justify it with the claim that since they have not built any recent nuclear station owing to strong public opinion against it, the French who has managed to build i some recently got better with the technology. It became obvious to me that even among the European technological elites, few have the capability to install and maintain nuclear stations.

I am also aware that no where in the document did any person suggest the transfer of nuclear technology -a technology that is yet to become readily available among them – to the developing countries. In our country, we had petroleum since 1960s, yet we have not been able to develop the technologies that drive the petroleum industry. The equipment used in exploring the oil are still being developed in Aberdeen in United Kingdom and elsewhere. Our men are no where involved in the fabrication of these equipment.

The involved technologies are the cheapest of technologies: mechanical, electrical and electronics equipment. These technologies ordinary technicians can handle; yet since 1969 they have not been able to transfer these technologies to us, nor have we been able to learn enough. This same oil we even lacked the capacity to refine.

And they want to suggest we can adopt nuclear technologies in generating our electricity. They refuse to tell us the real goal. They refuse to tell us that they plan to build and sell the reactors to us; that they plan to be a constant supplier of the nuclear fuel to us, knowing fully that it will take ages before we can acquire the ability to manufacture the fuels.

We have coal, we have petroleum and natural gas, and we have rivers; yet could not generate enough electricity with these using the cheapest of technologies. These technologies are every day use; that even technicians can adapt and develop.

They could not help us enough to be able to generate this electricity with these readily available resources. In their lands as advanced as they are, they still use all these to generate their electricity: they use coal, gas, dams, winds and even sunlight. Siemens is dreaming on how to lay millions of solar panels in Africa to be able to generate enough electrical energy to be routed back to Europe.

That is one of their key agenda for the future. The developing countries in Africa is no where near the agenda. Our own agenda is to be given nuclear reactors so that we will be bound to buy the fuel from them perpetually.

In essence, they want to use their acquired nuclear knowledge to tie us to themselves, the way they are presently tied to the Middle East oil producing countries. They know too well how important those oil producing countries have become and plan to displace them with these nuclear technology.

These same nuclear technologies their people are yet to fully accept because of its hazardous nature and the difficulty in disposing the arising nuclear waste. They envy the economic benefits derivable from oil and want to become the modern day “nuclear oil” producing countries. They will achieve this by tying us permanently to a technology that we will never be able to handle in the near future; and we will as such be bound to source the fuel from them. Our energy needs will depend on them. Economic slavery; the way it has been.

In Britain as I write, they have difficulty disposing their nuclear waste. They presently bury them underground with scientist constantly warning of the pending dangers in doing so. They also have had serious nuclear accidents in the past.

Several of their people have sued their government to make damage claims as a result of health problems arising from nuclear exposure. They presently lacked the ability to handle these health problems. We also know of a town called Sheffield in Britain; a town of serious nuclear accident. The town was re-baptised to hide the old name and remove the nuclear accident from the minds of people.

A technology with this level of hazardous potentials we want to play around with. Simple mechanical technologies of the refineries and petroleum pipelines we cannot properly protect, yet we want to protect nuclear with its capacity to kill. This, our masters want to tap for their own benefits and did not incorporate us in their thinking on this. It is nuclear reactor that they want to give us. We want nuclear; visionless group.

On the same internet 1 read a simple comment by an honest mind: “the biggest crime by Europe is to have met Africa farming with hoes and left Africa still farming with hoes after Independence”. This is still the case today. Why can’t they start from things as cheap as mechanizing our farms? Why have they insisted on subsidising their own farmers even in breach of World Trade Organisations’ agreements? It is all self-interest.

What is scary is that what was planned three years ago by the European think-tank, our political lords have adopted hook, line and sinker without the slightest of questioning. They even adopted it as if it is their own initiative; cursed group, imposters without the least of intelligence, liars.

A document 1 read and instantly understood its implications on my people, our political lords with all their globe-throttling could not fathom. So they sold our birth right; so they mis-rule our lands; so they wasted my generation.
I know they do not listen. I know they do not think. I fear if this article can be published because their collaborators are many in the control of the press. 1 owe no media house; 1 will never acquire stolen funds to be able to have one.

The looters of our resources own them. They are many among the lords of the press.

But on my disk drive, on my sent email folder, this article shall sit to judge this generation at the fullness of time; when the nuclear disasters and the impact of the planned economic enslavement must have taken a further toll on our already deprived lives.
