The battle line may have been drawn between seven instructors of the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, NCAT, Zaria, and the Rector, Capt. Adebayo Araba, as the former are now at the Federal High Court, Kaduna, to challenge their compulsory retirement late last year
Already, the court has fixed hearing in the case for January 28, 2010.
Management of the college had, in response to Federal Government’s circular ref:. HCSF/061/S.1/111/68 which directed that all directors and permanent secretaries who have served eight years on a post be retired from service, asked the seven instructors to go.
But the instructors are praying the court to nullify their retirement, saying they were merely classroom teachers and not directors or permanent secretaries, and that their job functions were not related.
They also contended that they were licensed professional aviators who specialized in aviation manpower training and development in the core competence of the industry.
