Monarch appointment tears community apart

AKURE—APPOINTMENT of an Oba in Aboto, Ilaje local government area of Ondo State is presently causing ripples in the community as a group, the Mahin Kingdom Central Organisation described the proposed installation of the Oba as illegal.

Addressing newsmen, the secretary of Mahin Kingdom, Mr. Saanumi Idowu, said the purported move to install Ofoaye Oyetayo as Olukohi of Aboto is unacceptable and wrong.

Idowu said the only recognized title for Aboto town was Alaboto and not Olukohi being paraded by some people in the community.

Recently some people who claimed to be kingmakers in Aboto had announced the selection of Oyetayo as the Olukohi-elect and appealed to the state government to approve his selection.

The Head of Oguntula Ruling House, High Chief Goodluck Ehinmowo and the secretary of Okohi Chieftaincy family, Prince Owoseni Akingbade, in a statement, said the selection of Ofoaye as the Olukohi-elect was done in accordance with Aboto Chieftaincy declaration.
