Kebbi earmarks N100m for tourism

The Kebbi Government has set aside N100 million for tourism marketing and the upgrade of the 59-year-old Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival.Gov. Saidu Dakingari disclosed this in Birnin Kebbi on Friday while addressing a public forum.

He said that the money would be used to engage private sector participation in the organisation of the festival, as recommended by the organising committee of the previous edition of festival.

“We need to stop paying lip service to tourism, it is time to involve the private sector to further exploit our tourism potential,” Dakingari said.

“I expect Kebbi State Tourism Development Board to channel the funds to tourism marketing and target corporate organisations involved in eco-tourism,” he added.
